I hope you are enjoying spring so far!! Quite a few bits of information has crossed my desk and I want everyone to be aware, if you aren’t already! Here’s a few of the items:
First, Alana from Equality Ohio sent the sign on letter for the program Ohio Competes (attached). If you have any questions about how your company or non-profit can participate, please contact Alana at alana@equalityohio.org directly. She will fill you in on everything you need to know!
For those 45 and older, the Jewish Family Services in Akron are organizing a luncheon for LGBTQ individuals and allies on May 19, 2016 at 12:00 at Pub Bricco in Akron’s Merriman Valley! Come on out and meet some new friends! Details at the attachment below!
Our friends at the new LGBTQ support group Infinite Rainbow, which meets the 2nd Sunday of each month @ 1:00pm at the Westfield Center First universalist Church on the Westfield Circle have made us an offer we can’t refuse!! They have started developing a lending library, and have offered OutSupport their service of bringing to each upcoming OutSupport meeting a selection of LGBTQI books for all ages! Thank you, Infinite Rainbow!! Attendees of OutSupport will be able to check out a selection for one month (please return so others can read!). If there are any publications that you are aware of that they can purchase, please contact sambyrd58@gmail.com for suggestions. Nice!
As you are aware, our website was down for awhile, and we are trying to re-populate the various columns with information and interesting articles that may be of interest to those seeking information. If you have something that you can share (counselors, physicians, organizations, supportive businesses and churches, etc…) please do share with us! We had a lot on it before, but unfortunately, much of what we had was unfortunately lost. Thanks for any contribution you can make!
Shout out to all of our graduates this month!! We have several High School graduates and a few college grads from our group, so I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all well, and whatever your future plans, we wish you nothing but happiness and success in your future endeavors!! You all are awesome!
Also, in case I don’t send out another email before Mother’s Day, I want to wish all mothers a wonderful day. And, I don’t just mean those moms with children…there are so many wonderful women that I have met through this group who nurture their children, other’s children, 4 legged children, and are ersatz parents to those who are not feeling supported by their own families. Also, many women who nurture supportive organizations, such as PFLAG, Love on a Mission, TZPrideZone, Teen Pride Network, GLSEN, GSA Allies and Advisors, TransFamily, Infinite Rainbow, and so many more! You are all a wonderful group of women to be involved with!!
OutSupport’s next monthly meeting will be May 23, 2016 at 7:00! I hope to see you there!
