As I write this, the monarch butterflies are passing through our region on their way to their destinies. I love to think of them as a metaphor of the many in our group who are transitioning to move toward greater destinies…you all inspire me so!

First, a special reminder from Deb Esty, who is a professor at Baldwin Wallace, who is conducting a research project about transwomen and body image. The Medina program will be here in Medina on Sept. 30. There are currently 4 signed up, but she would really like 2 more to sign up to participate. Also, on Sept. 30 is a fun “Down on the Farm Day!” this fun, family friendly social event will be for any LGBTQ person, family or friends. Tuesday, October 3, On The Table Greater Akron will be happening at Unity of Medina, sponsored by OutSupport and the Medina Diversity Project! We would be very happy to have any friends of OutSupport to any of the 4 sessions throughout the day. Times are :
9:00am, 11:30am 5:00pm 7:30pm

Wednesday, Oct. 4 the Medina GSA is hosting it’s annual Ally Coffee Break! This is a great way to get to know teens, let them know they are supported by adults in the community and learn how to build a safe community for all students! Medina High School Media Center 2:40-4:00pm
Monday, October 9 The 4th Annual Game Change Conference will be held at Kent State University Student Center. This conference will offer dynamic workshops and lectures for students, educators, social workers, and healthcare providers. Keynote speaker will be Sarah McBride, National Press Secretary for the Human Rights Campaign and the first openly transgender person to address a major political party at the 2016 DNC.
