Hi all!
Well, I’m totally psyched! We just got word last night that the effort to overturn the Medina LGBTQ Nondiscrimination Ordinance has failed!! The Akron based group, Ohio Christian Alliance, which had imported signature gatherers from Cleveland, Hudson, Sandusky and many other (not Medina) communities, failed to gather enough valid signatures to be able to put the referendum on the 2020 ballot. If they had, the ordinance would have not been in effect until the public voted on whether or not LGBTQ folks should have legal protection in the workplace, housing and public accomodations. Since their effort failed, the ordinance is firmly in effect!!! So, OutSupport is really happy today! Thanks to all of our supporters, near and far, and we hope you share in our joy!!

OutSupport will be teaming up again with the Medina Diversity Project for the Medina Fest this Saturday, Aug. 24 from 9-4 on the Medina Public Square! If there is anyone who is available to volunteer to work the table and hand out rainbow flags, please let me know! We could use a few helpers! thanks!
Sorry to miss the Akron PRIDE, but we hope all of our Akron area friends who attend have a great time!! this Saturday, Aug. 24 at Hardesty Park!
Our next OutSupport meeting will be on Monday, Aug. 26 at 7:00. If you can come, that would be really great…we will be having a person of the cloth come, hoping to understand more of the issues facing LGBTQ, and really seems to want to understand more. We would love your presence to share your story, and enlighten him to our issues.
Mark your calendars for Tuesday, October 22 at 6:30pm. OutSupport will be hosting a Transgender Information event at the Medina Library in downtown Medina. We will have speakers from TransOhio, TransAlive, Equality Ohio and other folks involved in the transgender experience in NEOhio. We will be getting a flyer out soon! We hope you can join us that evening.
