Hello all you pumpkin spice lovers! (and everyone else!!:)
I hope this finds you all well! OutSupport has been really busy with a bunch of activities, and events…and much more to come! Get your calendars out!!
The first thing I’d like to say is a HUGE THANK YOU to our friends at CLAW! CLAW donates money to OutSupport, to help us provide rainbow flags and stickers and other items that we like to give away to the public at resource fairs, etc… We are always so grateful to be part of the CLAW family!
OutSupport was happy to speak at a luncheon meeting of PEO, Akron Chapter, and gave us a helpful donation…Thank you!! We have been asked to offer our Transgender 101 program 3 times over the course of the 2019-2020 school year to John Carroll University. We are happy to provide this program there!
A point I’d like to make that I hope you can follow up in whatever town you are in. This fall, on Nov. 5 is an election for many smaller races, such as city councils. It is important to note that city councils can be deciding factors if given the opportunity to decide whether or not nondiscrimination ordinances can be passed or not. Please make sure that
1)You are registered to vote!! There have been voters removed from Ohio’s voting rolls…make sure your name is not one of them at your local board of elections, and if it is, you may reregister before Oct. 5.
2) Find out if there is a race in your community, and if there is…ask those running if they support LGBTQ Equality.
3) VOTE FOR THAT CANDIDATE WHO SUPPORTS LGBTQ EQUALITY!!!!
In Medina, there are some tight races that have been brought on by the passage of Medina’s Nondiscrimination Ordinance that passed in July (read: people who do not want equality in Medina). If anyone would be interested in donating to these candidates who fought hard on our behalf, they will appreciate your donation. Please contact Sandy at 330-241-1281 if you would like to help support these candidates. Please use your power at the voting booth…passing on any election is no longer something any of us can do…VOTE!!!

OCTOBER 22 6:30-8:30 Medina Library 210 S. Broadway Medina TRANSGENDER INFORMATION EVENING During the course of the Medina City Nondiscrimination Ordinance process, many people asked me direct questions about transgender issues…some I could answer, some I couldn’t. It made us aware that OutSupport wasn’t offering enough to the public to ask questions, and hear from transgender individuals from a variety of perspectives and disciplines. We are happy to welcome James Knapp, Attorney with TransOhio, Jake Nash, Founder of TransAlive, Giovanni Santiago, US Veteran, and Physicians from MetroHealth Pride Clinic. Speakers will offer important information, and there will be a panel discussion/Q&A to follow. The more education, awareness, and understanding the public has, the better. Feel free to share the attached flyer with your workplace, church or organization!
SAVE THE DATE!!! Please make sure you are able to attend our JANUARY 27, 2020 Support meeting! We will be welcoming Liam Gallagher, from Kaleidescope in Columbus for an evening devoted to LGBTQIA+ Inclusive SEX ED! It’s come to our attention that Health Class is not always complete in offering sex ed to students, and especially for LGBTQIA+ students. Stay safe, stay healthy, and mark your calendars for this educational event. Intended audience: LGBTQIA+ Teens and Young Adults, as well as those who work with these age groups in any setting (schools, healthcare, social services, etc..) as well as family members.
Upcoming meetings will be on September 23 and October 28! October we will be celebrating 6 years of support meetings in Medina!! Join us to get support, give support, or get informed!!
Kindest regards,
Sandy
