Hello, friends!
I hope you are all enjoying you pumpkin spiced everything, and if not, looking forward to peppermint and gingerbread everything!!:)) Here are a few bits of information and dates for your calendars you may have missed!
Our friends at the Cleveland LGBT Community Center are offering the QYOU Leadership Development Institute, a series of educational programming for youth, aged 14-19, who are passionate about learning about their community and ways to make change!
Sessions run from Nov. 2019- February 2020. Registration at : https://lgbtcleveland.org/ lgbt-center-programs-training/ youth-young-adult/ or contact Brian at blutz@lgbtcleveland.org
Cleveland Transgender Day of Remembrance will be help at Trinity Cathedral this year on Friday, Nov. 22 at 5:30pm. If you have never attended a TDoR event, I’d encourage you to attend. Very moving tributes to those we have lost in 2019 to violence and suicide.
If anyone wants to carpool from the Medina area, please let me know and we can arrange a carpool.
Equality Ohio has a special request! Please consider preparing testimony ( I know…you already did this last year…) because the possibility of the Ohio Fairness Act is closer than it ever has been, and your testimony will be crucial to it passing! Equality Ohio is collecting testimonies NOW, in order to be prepared when this eventually has a hearing in Columbus. Please, please, please take a few moments and write about why it’s important to you and your family and friends to have all LGBTQ+ Ohioans protected from job and housing discrimination!! For more info, visit www.equalityohio.org
Speaking of Equality Ohio, OutSupport is being honored this year by Equality Ohio as their NEOhio Honored Ally! Phyllis Seven Harris, Executive Director of the Cleveland LGBT Community Center will be honored as their Honored Advocate! We are proud and grateful for all that Equality Ohio does on behalf of LGBTQ+ folks throughout Ohio. Come and share the event with us! See attached for details!
OK…I know I may sound like a broken record, but tomorrow is election day, and I’m going to ask you one last time (for this cycle) to please vote for candidates who support LGBTQ equality!!! This is your chance to make your voice heard by voting for those candidates who have our backs!!! If you live in Medina City, please plan to vote!! Call me if you have any questions!! OutSupport can’t endorse any candidate, but individuals in our group can help in your decision making process. The important thing is that you VOTE!!!
Lastly, I want to make sure that you all know that you are loved and honored, just for being you! Usually, my letters just give you info and calendar dates. But one of the main reasons we started OutSupport was to make sure that anyone who we are honored to come into contact with, knows :: that you are loved and you are absolutely perfectly unique, exactly how you are!! The world is a more wonderful, colorful place because you are here…don’t EVER forget that!!!
With much love,
Sandy
