Greetings, friends!

Today is an important day in the year for our transgender friends, family, collegues, church members, and the vast universe of transgender persons. Transgender Day of Visibility is a day to honor all of the transgender people in the world, doing remarkable things and everyday thingsā€¦.in other words, bravely living their lives. It’s also to remind all of us that discrimination and misunderstanding happen, and to do whatever we can to educate others, and be an advocate for them. We all need to do what we can to lift each other up, in the way that we can.

Hug a trans friend or call to let them know you are there for them, or call the Governor to let him know that anti-trans bills have no place in Ohio or anywhere. The easiest way to contact him is by email through the website www.governor.ohio.gov and let his office know that you support trans people in our lives, and that you DO NOT support anti-trans bills that may appear here in Ohio. Thank you.

In other news, OutSupport has been the recipient of a grant from the Akron Community Foundation’s Gay Community Endowment Fund again!! We are so grateful for their support to be able to help keep OutSupport operating! While we have no paid staff, we still have operating expenses to be able to do what we do! We couldn’t do it without the support of this great organization!! Please check out their website www.akroncf.org THANK YOU GCEF!!!

An important research has started regarding our LGBTQ Elders and Dementia.
Aging with PRIDE: IDEA (Innovations in Dementia Empowerment and Action) at the University of Washington is a study for and about LGBTQ Elders with Dementia and their caregivers. This is a really important topic, as LGBTQ Elders often have no family support and are often difficult to connect with. If you are interested in learning more or participating in this virtual study, please contact:

OutSupport is working to try to organize a summer’s worth of activities for LGBTQ+ Youth, with the hope of having 1 outing or activity available to our kiddos each week over the summer. We’ll get that out as soon as we have dates available from the other organizations! In the meantime, please share OutSupport OutDoors, which starts up on April 23, with folks who might have a trans or non binary teen in their lives!

Sending lots of love to all of you ESPECIALLY our transgender friends today!
