Greetings, friends!

November is Trans Awareness Month! Also a month that we try to think about the things we are grateful for. While there are definitely big issues coming out of Columbus (that we will be fighting every step of the way!) We are also grateful for a lot of things that are happening and will continue to happen. Let’s focus on these….

First up, we have just been invited to a special Open House from Juvly Aesthetics for an Open House event, sponsored by PLEXUS Cleveland and TransOhio. They will be welcoming Dr. Justin Harper, MD, worldwide pioneer of transgender transformation using non-surgical techniques. Friends of OutSupport are able to attend this event, and we have been offered 25 free tickets to those who want to meet the doctor and learn of his work. If you are interested in attending, please respond to this email by Sunday, Nov. 7 evening. Please, due to limited space, only respond if you are certain you will attend.

Here is a link to an article from the Buckeye Flame about this Doctor and the technique!

Another reason to be grateful is the amazing work that Margie’s Hope is doing. Recently, they opened up a clothing store, specifically for transgender people. Margie’s Closet is up and running at 1384 W. 117th St. in Lakewood and welcomes trans and gender expansive individuals and is volunteer run! All items, new and used, are donated. If you would like to donate, call and ask for times at 330-240-1600. Margie’s Hope runs lots of specialized programming for the trans community, as well! Congratulations to Jacob Nash, highlighted by Cleveland Magazine as a 2021 Community Leader of the Year!! Proud to know him and the great work he does in our area!!!

Elections are over and we have reason to celebrate 2 Out, LGBTQ folx who won their races!  Trans Candidate Dion Manley won an open seat on the Gahanna City Schools School Board, and Rebecca Mauerer is the first LGBTQ woman on Cleveland City Council! Congratulations!!!

Don’t’ forget to get your tickets for the Gay Community Endowment Fund’s Sugar Plum Tour of Holiday Homes, this year on December 5, celebrating 20 years of these amazing holiday open houses!! Tours will be offered in person and virtually. GCEF has supported OutSupport for many years, and this is their biggest fundraiser of the year! We are very grateful for their support!!! If you want to protest against the unconstitutional and extremely harmful HB454, which has been introduced in the Ohio House of Representatives, please attend from 3:30-5:00pm this Saturday, Nov. 6 at the Ohio Statehouse. If you cannot make the rally, please make calls to your representatives to ask them not to support this Bill. UGH.

While we are still not meeting in Person, PFLAG Cleveland, PFLAG Akron, and other organizations are meeting in person and virtually. We are grateful that they are providing the support families and individuals need!

OutSupport continues to be busy! Collaboration with the Medina Health Dept. with their focus on LGBTQ in Ohio meetings, a phone call with PFLAG National for the Equality Act with Senator Portman’s office, speaking to several local groups, including Brunswick, Highland Middle School and Buckeye HS GSAs have been keeping us busy! WAIT….did I say BUCKEYE HIGH SCHOOL HAS A GSA???!!! Congratulations to our friends at Buckeye Local here in Medina County….that make 5 GSAs at high schools, 2 at middle schools, and 1 Diversity group at Cloverleaf! So happy to support the schools in their efforts to bring a welcoming atmosphere to ALL students in the schools here in Medina County!!

We know that the holidays can be very stressful…please know that OutSupport continues to provide resources for local families who need information or a willing ear…we are always there for you!

Kindest regards,

Sandy
