Holiday greetings to all of our friends of OutSupport!

We hope that this message finds you safe and healthy, but most importantly, to remind you that your health (mental and physical) health remain a top priority for us at OutSupport. With that said, we are extremely saddened to let you know that our OutSupport friend, Kevin Ross Miller, has passed away. Kevin was a kind and sensitive person, and always had time to support a friend, as he did at many OutSupport meetings. We will miss his warm spirit, and gentle nature. If you feel led to be a part of memorial services for him, here are the details:Calling Hours and Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021 5-7pm Viewing/7:00pm services. Parker Funeral Home in Lodi.Candlelight Remembrance/Celebration of Life for Kevin will be hosted by one of Kevin’s friends, Amy Adams. Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 6:30pm at Amy’s home. This service will celebrate the life of Kevin, and that he knew who he authentically was.

There are a few other events for your calendar that will be wonderful ways to ring in the new year with Pride:I just found out about a Mama Bears group that meets in Canton on the first Monday of each month at BAM Healthy Cuisine in Canton. Covid has forced cancellations, but the goal is to bring Mamas (and Papas!) together in that area. Please contact Heather Clevengerheather.clevenger68@gmail.comto confirm time and whether or not the meeting will take place. If you are unaware, Mama Bears love to give out Free Mom Hugs and Free Dad Hugs at Pride events!

Medina G2H2 Happy Hour will meet up on January 19, 2022 at 5:30pm at 111 Bistro, 2736 Medina Road in Medina. This is a wonderful way to have a fun, relaxing time with friends, old and new! All LGBTQ+ are welcome!

Drag Me to Dinner will happen again at Williams on the Lake in Medina on Jan. 22,2022.I think it’s sold out, but I think it’s amazing to have another drag show in Medina, which includes Medina’s own, Gingerella!!

OutSupport also wants to make you aware of an event that is prompted by numerous requests from local schools in Medina County for more information about how the schools can best support their transgender/nonbinary students. To that end, OutSupport will be partnering with TransOhio for a Zoom program on Thursday, February 17 at 2:30 for school employees, including school administration, teachers, counselors, and others who work directly in the schools. OutSupport will be sending out an email the first week of February to advise how to register for this program. We feel that this is a way that schools can get really important information that is badly needed. Our friends at TransOhio can’t come to every school to do a program, so hopefully multiple schools can attend.

Lastly, something happened last Saturday in Medina that really concerned us. White supremacists had a small rally in a shopping area in Medina. As OutSupport has done in the past, we wanted to make sure that our area knows the Hate Has No Home Here. To that end, we have purchased 100 of the blue signs that many people have had in their front yards in Medina since we purchased them in 2018 for distribution. If you want one, please email me at:sandy.varndell@gmail.com for a sign. First come, first served. When they arrive, I will be contacting everyone who requests a sign with instructions for pick up. We abhor the action last week, and want to make sure that it is known that that is not who Medina is.

Wishing you all peace and goodwill this season. And please wear your mask!

Best Wishes and Warmest Regards for a happy & healthy 2022 🙂

Sandy
